Summary

The retreat gently addresses the question Jesus poses: "What profit is there for one to gain the whole world and forfeit his life?" Take time during this weekend to reflect on your life and your commitments in the context of the Spiritual Exercises and the life, death and resurrection of Jesus.

Description

This retreat includes several presentations, daily mass, 6 meals, the opportunity for one-on-one spiritual direction with a trained spiritual director, and many other opportunities to explore our 80 acres and almost 60k square feet of  interior space. All activities are optional, but we do ask everyone to respect the quiet of the retreat house for everyone to have the opportunity to read, sleep and reflect in the quiet. 

Bellarmine has two libraries, a resource center, two chapels, and many other common areas. Outdoor spaces include a various walking trails, various prayer gardens, a gazebo, stations of the cross, as well as a few patios and outdoor chairs and benches. Each retreatant has their own bedroom.

Fr. Peter Etzel, SJ

Fr. Peter Etzel, SJ is the director of the Sioux Spiritual Center near Howes, South Dakota, and director of diaconate formation for the Diocese of Rapid City. Born in Milwaukee, Fr. Etzel entered the Jesuits in 1983 after seven years in the sports department of The Milwaukee Journal. During regency he taught high school in The Philippines. After ordination in 1994, Fr. Etzel has served in various pastoral ministries, including Vocations Director of the Wisconsin Jesuits and pastor of Gesu Parish in Milwaukee. He has given retreats on the Spiritual Exercises for more than 20 years.
